"The historical storm of the liberation struggle is uprooting age old traditions that took root over a long period of time in our society...The ideology of women liberation is a child born out of the womb of our liberation struggle... The Tamil Eelam revolutionary woman has transformed herself as a Tiger for the liberation of our land and liberation of women."
Today is Women's International Day, I am happy that this revolutionary renaissance day is being celebrated throughout Tamil Eelam.
Our society is undergoing dynamic change. The historical storm of the liberation struggle is uprooting age old traditions that took root over a long period of time in our society. The superstitious beliefs lurking in our minds are being discarded. There is a new vision that had blossomed in our society. There is new awakening. There are revolutionary changes talking place in social relationships.
The liberation of women is a liberation within our liberation struggle which is on the ascendance. The ideology of women liberation is a child born out of the womb of our liberation struggle. The growth and renaissance of the struggle is an unparalleled history by itself. The Tamil Eelam revolutionary woman has transformed herself as a Tiger for the Liberation of our land and liberation of women.
She, like a fire that burns injustices, has taken up arms. Our movement paved the way for this historical change.
Women liberation struggle progresses as a journey towards equality. Unequal relationships have developed based on gender differences. At all times, in all societies and in all traditions, this unequal relationship has prevailed. Women all over the world have raised the battle flag against this social injustice.
Physical sex differences are a gift by nature to procreate the human race. Society has differentiated between men and women and created unequal relationships among them thus defeating the objective of procreation. Gender differences and those traditional values based on them have moulded the outlook and approaches of feminism. These have placed impediments in the path of gender equality.
Human dignity is beyond sexual differences. Beyond malinism and feminism there is humanism. Struggle illustrates that woman can achieve anything they want to.
Feminism is making a fervent appeal to malinism to honour humanism, beyond gender differences, and beyond feminism and malinism. When all men in deep understanding grasp the hands of friendship then only equality will become a reality.
I extend my best wishes to the women of Tamil Eelam as they celebrate International Women's day.
