"To us all towns are one, all men our kin.
Life's good comes not from others' gift, nor ill
Man's pains and pains' relief are from within.
Thus have we seen in visions of the wise !."

- Tamil Poem in Purananuru, circa 500 B.C

    [TamilNet, Friday, 01 December 2006, 23:00 GMT]

The headless body of a youth of Naranthanai who was abducted from his home on Wednesday by unidentified men was found on Thursday evening at Nerunchimunai area in Kayts in the islets of Jaffna, relatives said. Kayts is under the control of Sri Lankan Navy (SLN). The body of the youth, Daniel Quinton, 24, was identified by his relatives and later taken to the Jaffna Teaching hospital for autopsy. The boy was likely first shot dead by the abductors and later beheaded, the hospital sources said. The severed head has not been found yet. A headless body of another youth was found in an abandoned well in the same islets region last week. Only the torso without the hands and legs was recovered in this case, eyewitnesses said. The unidentified torso lies in the Jaffna Teaching hospital morgue for identification. The killings have shocked the area residents.
