TAMIL NATIONAL FORUMSelected Writings - Fr. Chandiravarman Sinnathurai Prosaic Dream 23 March 2006 Dedicated to Chandra Fernando a.k.a I.G.P I have a dream A nightmare really! A group of burly men Dressed in frocks and aprons Complete with purple toupee With ornaments and necklaces Manhandled and abducted me.
I have a dream These men said their prayers And ate éclairs Planting a red golden ring Singing Ding, dong, ding And dressed me in frocks Hiding my curly locks Underneath a purple toupee!
Now they said: “Stand up young man, We anoint you to be the Local Bishop Go! Go!” They hurriedly me along…
I sat up while standing; but wouldn’t shut up! I protested my innocence Why do you convict me? To a life of imprisonment Where do I now “Go”?
Christ said “Go!” with authority But you creepy scoundrels I refuse to go with your “Go! Go!” It is the authority that makes the difference
My nightmare was over… But everyone clamoured He is: “The local Bishop in a global Diaspora”
I have no dream… But a real nightmare! I am an off-duty policeman.
