International Tamil Eelam Research Conference, Sacramento State University, U.S.A., 21-22 July 1991 Message from Professor C.J.Eliezer, Dear Delegates and Participants, TAMIL EELAM - A NATION WITHOUT A STATE I write to convey to all of you assembled at the conference at Sacramento the greetings of the Australasian Federation of Tamil Associations. May your deliberations be abundantly succesful! Australian Tamils assure our support and send you our best wishes. The conference is meeting at a time which is very critical for the Tamil Cornmunity in Sri Lanka. They are undergoing great hardships and deprivations. Thousands have died defending homes and homeland. Children have their education interrupted and are short of homes, food and medication. In these circumstances the expatriate Tamil Community, spread out in many parts of the world, has many obligations and many opportunities. Let us hope that out of conferences such as this there would emerge concerted and realistic programs of action. The provision of accurate information, to those of the International Community who are interested and concerned, is paramount to counteract false propaganda I quote from Charles Peguy: "He who does not bellow the Truth when he knows it Makes himself an accomplice of liars" Congratulations and Vanakkam to you all.
